I heard a Yellow-billed Cuckoo calling this afternoon on my property in SW
Loveland (Larimer). It called for about 2 minutes and I never heard it again. I
wasn't able to try to chase it down. If anyone would like to try for it please
let me know. I will post again if I hear it or even see. Like Dave Leatherman
mentioned a couple of days ago, this is a fairly rare bird for Larimer County.
On another note, I can't believe the numbers of reptiles and amphibians I have
seen and heard on my property the past 3 days. They include: 1 Snapping Turtle,
3 Painted Turtles, 8 Western Terrestrial Garter Snakes (all about 6-8 inches
long), 1 Plains Garter Snake, 1 Bullsnake, 1 Racer (eating at Western
Terrestrial Garter Snake), at least 12 Western Chorus Frogs, and at least 18
Woodhouse's Toad.
