Whilel tracking burrowing owls in the DIA area about 8 AM, we found a
stunning fallout of what appeared to be first year Red-tailed Hawks. There
were at least 58, 42 in one tight spot at about 58th Ave. and Picadilly, and
another 16 dispersed around the area. Almost all were perched and
strikingly motionless on fence posts as far as the eye could see, and the
others were standing in the fields around them. Two or three flew up from
their perch briefly, but did not appear to be pursuring prey. Plumage
varied, light to dark, some molting--all works in progress. Some were
possibly Harlan's. If some of you found these hawks and identified them as
something else--someone watching them from some distance from us, thought
they were Ferruginous. We'd love to share our field notes and to be
corrected in our ID, so we want to hear from you. We're reporting them to
eBird, and we've got get it right!

Photos? Yes, but fuzzy.
