This reminds me that three singing male DICKCISSELS were recently found at
Teller Farms by someone doing a hayfield survey. They were somewhere south of
North Teller Lake, but north of Arapahoe Rd. Maybe 1/4 mi south of the Valmont
Rd parking lot?? Walk south and listen.

I found a singing male OVENBIRD in the thicket near the north end of the
Goshawk Ridge Trail in Eldorado Mountain Open Space this morning. This is the
same area where an Ash-throated Flycatcher was found recently. No sign of that
guy. This is the 6th singing male OVEN that I've heard or heard about in the
Boulder Mountain Parks this spring. I've also discovered the nest of a pair of
EASTERN BLUEBIRDS in the burned area along the western side of the Spring Brook
Loop Trail, again in the Eldorado Mountain Open Space. The nest isn't very
close to the trail, but perhaps a lucky observer will find a foraging bird.
This is the 3rd (and likely 4th) year in a row that EABLs have nested on this
property. I found this nest quite fortuitously. I was walking past a nice
looking snag, thinking about how nice that cavity looked, when out flew the
female. Unlike in the past, the male is NOT singing up a storm. I spend many
hours a week in this area and haven't detected these birds until now.

Great birding,

Subject: [cobirds] Bobolink(s) Still At Teller Farms, Boulder Co
Date: Wed, 16 Jun 2010 10:37:07 -0600

I checked out the trail at Teller Farm today to see if any of the Bobolinks
were still present from weeks ago. There was at least 1 singing male in the
same field, the E-W stretch of the road from the Valmont parking lot. I
believe there was 1 on the S side of the road as well. Hopefully there are
some females lurking in the deep grass.
