This morning, after seeing the Cattle Egrets and other birds at the rookery
on Glenmere Lake that Gary Lefko posted recently, we stopped at Lower Latham
for a while. What a surprise! Lower Latham seemed like a small avian
nursery. In the areas of open water tucked between the reeds on the north
and south sides of Weld CR 48, betweeen CR 43 and 47, there were very young
Black-necked Stilts, Long-billed Dowitcher, Lesser Yellowlegs, Virginai
Rail, ducklings, and others, most still downy.
