Hello, Birders.

Eight of us had a nice time out at Ish Reservoir, extreme northeastern Boulder
County, earlier this "morning," Thursday, August 12th.

Alas, there was a fair bit of cloud cover, but we persevered and were able to
see at least 20 meteors, part of the Perseids Shower, streak across the sky. We
also got nice views of Uranus and of deep-sky objects like M15, NGC 869 & 884,
and the Galaxy in Andromeda.

Birdwise, we heard 6 Chipping Sparrow flight calls, several of which were nice
and loud. We also heard 2 Lark Buntings and 2 of those tricky, wimpy flight
calls that I'm pretty sure are given by Brewer's Sparrows. A Barn Owl was
hunting nearby, and it called several times. And a Western Grebe called out on
the reservoir from time to time. Also a few Killdeer and a Great Blue Heron or
two.

Thanks to the American Birding Association and the Partnership for
International Birding for sponsoring this outing. And thanks to the great
participants--the youngest of whom was 12 weeks old, and very well behaved.
