Following Cara Stiles note from yesterday that she would be interested in going
back to a reprise visit to Timnath Res. (Larimer Co), I decided to take her up
on it. So mid-morning today, Cara, Todd Deininger and I headed out.

Timnath remains quite good, especially in its eastern bay in spite of the
receding water line. We had a total of 10 shorebird species including one
Sanderling, three Dunlin and more than a dozen Stilt Sandpipers. The whole of
the reservoir hosted for us many of the species noted by others, but most
noteworthy might have been 150 Snowy Egrets.

We continued to the southeast to visit Montfort Marsh, Loloff Res., the Lower
Latham marsh and the usual Beebe Draw spots (all Weld). Montfort had a pair of
Western Sandpipers and many Black-necked Stilts. Loloff had about 300 Wilson's
Phalarope although I would confess to a half-hearted effort to pull any
Red-necked or Red out of the group. Latham had one or two Solitary Sandpipers
and 45X46 in Beebe Draw had a group of almost 100 Bank Swallows.

A hot day, but a great one for good discussion and learning of fall shorebirds
(16 species in all).
