Walked around Stearns Lake this morning from 8 to 9. There was nothing on
the water except 1 lone Great Blue Heron and a couple of mallards. The water
is still very high; there are small shores for sandpipers along the path
toward the dam end of the lake.

The best sighting was a red-tailed hawk sitting on a post eating its
breakfast. There were quite a few hawks around, at least 2 red-tails and 2
Swainson's.

Canada geese, maybe 20
1 kestrel, male
1 Killdeer
4 sandpipers (I'm going to say Baird's, from the call and the tail pattern)
3 mourning doves
1 flicker
1 magpie
a few starlings
Barn swallows (around 80, both adults and juveniles, feeding in the corn and
in the weeds near the pond)
Blackbirds (about 40 in the trees by the dam, mostly red-winged with 2
yellow-headed)
2 juvenile meadowlarks
house finches

In my yard south of Rock Creek Farm, on Lac Amora Park, so far I've had a
sage thrasher (gone now) and a house wren. No rock wrens, white-crowned
sparrows, towhees, or juncos yet. I have had 1 lousy hummingbird this year,
and although I still have food out for them, I've pretty much given up on
seeing any more.
