Hi Birders,
I haven’t posted the last couple of days because we’ve been sharing banding
responsibilities and I ended the day without the data. So, a brief catch up –
Wed was very slow (13 banded), yesterday we were back into the 30s, which seems
to be our norm this year. First of season species included a Ruby-crowned
Kinglet (Wed) and a Clay-colored Sparrow and Spotted Towhee (Thurs).
Today we banded 34 birds, 17 species, including 2 FOS – a Yellow-rumped Warbler
and a Townsend’s Solitaire. Here’s today’s breakdown:
Downy Woodpecker 1
Dusky Flycatcher 1
Red-breasted Nuthatch 2
House Wren 4
Townsend’s Solitaire 1 (FOS)
Hermit Thrush 1
Gray Catbird 1
Orange-crowned Warbler 3
Audubon’s Warbler 1 (FOS)
MacGillivray’s Warbler 1
Wilson’s Warbler 10
Western Tanager 1
Green-tailed Towhee 2
Spotted Towhee 1
Lark Sparrow 1
Song Sparrow 1
Lazuli Bunting 2
Open this weekend, with no big groups scheduled, so it might be a good time for
families to visit.
