Hi Birders,

A cool, sunny, windless morning at Barr Lake, perfect for banding. We banded
37 birds, busy enough but with plenty of time to enjoy the first of season (and
first in hand for me) Fox Sparrow and two very young Blue Grosbeaks. We
continue to catch lots of Wilson’s Warblers, but we are steadily moving into
fall…..fewer warblers overall and more sparrows, including our first Junco. 14
species:

House Wren 3
Hermit Thrush 1
Orange-crowned Warbler 1
Common Yellowthroat 3
Wilson’s Warbler 16
Yellow-breasted Chat 1
Green-tailed Towhee 2
Chipping Sparrow 3
Clay-colored Sparrow 1
Fox Sparrow 1 (FOS)
Lincoln’s Sparrow 1
Gambel’s White-crowned Sparrow 1
Gray-headed Junco 1 (FOS)
Blue Grosbeak 2

Thursday will likely be our closed day this week; otherwise open weather
permitting. Come visit while the weather is still good!
