Arapahoe County:
--2 Lesser Black-backed Gulls (1 adult) and several Sabine's Gulls were 
reported by Walbek at Cherry Creek Reservoir on September 20.
--A Palm Warbler was reported by Brown at Cherry Creek State Park on September 
17.  The bird was seen on the east side of the Lake Loop by the bike Trail.

Boulder County:  
--A Palm Warbler was reported by Floyd at Greenlee Preserve on September 22.  
The bird was along the west shore of Waneka Lake, in the cattails.
--A Palm Warbler was reported by Floyd at Walden Ponds on September 22.  The 
bird was in the southwest corner of the pond just south of Cottonwood Marsh.
--The Pacific Loon first reported by Blatchley on July 10 at MacIntosh Lake, 
was seen as recent as September 23 by Birchmeier.  The bird was seen in the 
middle of the lake. 
  
El Paso County:
--2 juv. Sabine's Gulls were reported by Peterson at Big Johnson Reservoir on 
September 22.
--A Lesser Black-backed Gull (alternate plumage) was reported by Peterson at 
Big Johnson Reservoir on September 15 and was seen by Kosar on September 18.
--A Magnolia Warbler (hatch year) was banded by Gibbons at the Chico Basin 
Ranch banding station on September 22.    The banding station demo area is free 
but there is a fee to bird Chico Basin Ranch.

Huerfano County:
--A Sabine's Gull was reported by Neldner at Lathrop State Park on September 
22.                             

Jefferson/Douglas County:
--A juv. Sabine's Gull was reported by Hager at Chatfield Reservoir on 
September 23.  The bird was seen by the Platte River inlet canal area.

Larimer County:
--A BLACKBURNIAN WARBLER (female) was reported by Sparks along the Poudre River 
bike trail on September 17.  The bird was seen about 100 feet from the Lee 
MARTINEZ park parking lot (once you get to the bike trail, about 20 feet east 
on the north side.
--2 juv. Sabine's Gulls were reported by Wild at Duck Lake on September 22.  

Logan County:
--3 or 4 SPRAGUE'S PIPITS were reported by Severs east of Sterling on September 
23. Severs recommends trying the County Roads SW of Fleming.

Pueblo County:
--A juv. Sabine's Gull was reported by Drummond at the Headquarters Pond at 
Chico Basin Ranch (fee area) on September 22; it was seen by Maynard on 
September 23. 

Washington County:
--A BLACKBURNIAN WARBLER was reported by Kellner at the Prewitt Reservoir inlet 
canal on September 17.
--A Bell's Vireo was reported by Kellner at the Last Chance Rest Area on 
September 17.

Weld County:
--A juv. ARCTIC TERN was reported by Wild at Black Hollow Reservoir on 
September 22.
--A Winter Wren was reported by Roller at Norma's Grove, just east of county 
roads  57 and 100 in Weld County, on September 22.
--A Cassin's Kingbird was reported by Wild at Norma's Grove on September 22.
--A Palm Warbler was reported by Kibbe at the northwest side of Crow Valley 
Campground on September 22. 
--A Great Crested Flycatcher was reported by Wild at Crow Valley Campground on 
September 22.
--A RED PHALAROPE and a Sabine's Gull were reported by Wild at Luna Reservoir 
(county road 11 just NE of highway 7 and I-25) on September 19.

The DFO field trip for Saturday, September 25 is to Rocky Mountain Arsenal, led 
by Dave Rhoades, (303)424-8633. Time of trip: 0800-1300. Meet Leader at the 
Visitors' Center for a guided exploration of this premier bird habitat. Bring 
water and snacks, lunch optional. You must register with Dave in advance as 
this is a space-limited trip. 

The DFO field trip for Sunday, September 26 is to the Pueblo area and Fountain 
Creek, led by Paul Slingsby, (303)422-3728. Meet Leader at 0700 at the SE 
corner of the parking lot by The Great Indoors, Yosemite St. at C-470: from 
I-25 exit County Line Rd. and go west to Yosemite, and follow Yosemite as it 
curves around to the last right-hand turn before C-470. Full day trip, easy 
hiking. Bring lunch, water, and a scope and two-way radio if you have them. 
Please be sure to register with Paul beforehand.

The Denver Field Ornithologist's monthly meeting for September is on Monday 
September 27, 2010 at 7:30PM at the Denver Museum of Nature and Science.  The 
meeting will feature breaking news and research about Black Swifts in Colorado 
with Jason Beason of RMBO.
