CO-Birders –
It was a hot and windy day of banding at Chico Basin Ranch on Wednesday. We
caught many more leaves (seemed like thousands) than birds (43). Wilson’s
Warbler was finally bumped out of the top spot by Hermit Thrush, though the two
tied on Thursday.
Birds Banded 9-29:
Flicker Intergrade – 1
Townsend’s Solitaire – 1
Hermit Thrush – 17
Wilson’s Warbler – 12
Common Yellowthroat – 1
Spotted Towhee – 1
Chipping Sparrow – 3
Lincoln’s Sparrow – 4
Gambel’s White-crowned Sparrow – 1
Oregon Junco -2
Things dropped off on Thursday, for a total of 24 birds banded.

Sharp-shinned Hawk – 1
Blue Jay – 2
Mountain Chickadee – 1
Townsend’s Solitaire – 1
Gray Catbird – 1
Hermit Thrush – 7
Audubon’s Warbler – 1
Wilson’s Warbler – 7
Chipping Sparrow – 1
Lincoln’s Sparrow - 2
Total birds banded for the season thus far is 1470.
