Kathy Mihm-Dunning and I birded NE Colorado today and had the following
highlights:
Crow Valley Campground:
Blackpoll Warbler - 1 (just past the gate at the north end)
White-throated Sparrow - 4 (along the south drainage inside the
campground)
Sapsucker sp? - 1 imm seen briefly and not relocated
Private Ranch in Logan County:
Field Sparrow - 7!
Winter Wren - 1 (NOT a Pacific Wren)
Jumbo Reservoir:
Greater White-fronted Goose - 12 (seems pretty early)
Caspian Terns - 2 on the island in the middle of the reservoir
Suddenly there are ducks on Jumbo! Ruddy and Ring-necked Ducks and
a good number of grebes.
Prewitt Reservoir:
Townsend's Warbler - 2
Red-naped Sapsucker - 1 adult male
11 species of expected shorebirds (cove just northeast of the inlet
canal grove)
Weather was beautiful and it was nice to see some change in the migrant mix
on the plains.
