fall's first icy winds white-crowned sparrows chase a shrike no rest for butchers
Deb and I took a windblown walk at Cherry Creek State Park this a.m., and like Kayleen, saw our FOS Northern Shrike. Quite a seen: A prairie fire of whipped-up leaves, and a posse of agitated sparrows riding a gust, letting the Butcher Bird know just how unwelcome he is; hence, the haiku. Gotta love this season!
