Steve, thank you so much for your post. I went there at 449PM today 11/7, scanned every rock and wave; at 502 the dipper flew in (don't know from which direction) and sat on a rock in midstream at the eastern edge of the bridge. It bounced up and down and flapped for about 45 seconds, then flew almost directly up. As it was dusk, I might guess that it found a spot to spend the night in the underbridge structure. My reason for thanks is that this is a new Arapahoe County bird...though I do have one for Denver plus several mountain counties. It may also stimulate me to submit an updated Arapahoe list, which I haven't done for two years, and even a Denver list, never submitted. (And I easily recall adding the barn owl at ChCrk 5 weeks ago, the magnolia warbler there in May, and last year's buff-br sandpiper and least tern). Re. Joe's comments about the farthest records on the "plains:" I recall that someone saw one within the past two years near Monaco and Cherry Creek Drive. Also that in about 1976, with a foot of snow on the ground, I was preparing to turn left from Speer onto 8th Ave. Thompson Marsh walked by and told me that he had just seen a dipper under the Lincoln Street bridge. Perhaps the current bird knows the weather forecast for the next week or so.

Deb and I were on bike ride at 12:30 today and found a Dipper in an interesting location: in a small tributary of Cherry Creek under the Parker Road 'bridge' that is just south of the Orchard Road intersection in scenic Arapahoe County. There is a bike path along the small stream there. What a kick!
