Hi all, While scouting for a Sunday field trip for Fort Collins Audubon, I encountered a Swamp Sparrow at Running Deer Natural Area just east of Fort Collins, and west of I-25. I got great looks, the best I've ever had of the species, and it called frequently while perched out in the open. (Too bad I was so foolish as to not bring my camera along today.) It was working the short trees along the trail just west of the large cattail marsh near the parking lot.
I also enjoyed the enchanting whisper song of an American Robin, and a surprising "grunt" call (which to me always sounds like a laugh) from a Virginia Rail. -- Eric DeFonso Fort Collins, CO -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Colorado Birds" group.
