On November 11 in a post titled Bonanza at Red Rocks, I indicated Rob
Raker and I had seen a juvenile Red-naped Sapsucker. I left town for
several days right after my post, but now need to make a correction.
Both Brandon Percival and SeEtta Moss had questions regarding the
post, and after Rob Raker was able to share photos of the bird, we are
all in agreement that the bird is a first winter or juvenile male
Yellow-bellied Sapsucker. Many thanks to Brandon, SeEtta, and Rob for
helping with the correct ID.
So our Bonanza at Red Rocks on the morning of Nov. 11 includes:
a male first winter or juvenile Yellow-bellied Sapsucker, a Curve-
billed Thrasher, an adult Golden-crowned Sparrow, and a white-striped
adult White-throated Sparrow.
My apologies for all the confusion.
