Hi Cobirders Needed a state bird for the year. Here is an answer to
prayer!
Hi Norm I did not read my emails yesterday evening as I usually do.
Watched Prince Charles interview and his
documentary on Harmony of food using nature (we call it organic)
My older son Bob was coming this morning and we were going to try for
the Pacific Wren and I did my email
and fortuitously there was a rare bird the Ross Gull. So off we
went. Bob and his wife Sondra have become
serious birders. Sondra didn't come. We arrived at 12:35PM and went
straight to Lake Loop. We saw a row
of telescopes at the north end looking across the lake.
Russ Gull was being seen active across near the dam.
Bob got it in my scope and soon I saw it with the gray under wings
flying around with two Bonaparte's Gulls
tough to keep them separated.
When I got the scope again I was able to follow the Ross Gull for
about 5 minutes or more.
The sun broke thru and I was able to see the pink on the lower belly
several times. Also the point of the
wedge white tail. Noted the black bill and white head. The partial
black collar was barely discernible.
Great seeing all the birders I do not see often enough anymore!
Thanks to Glen for his great pictures too.
