There was a juvenile Black-legged Kittiwake today at Lathrop SP in Huerfano
Co.(See Note) It was with dozens of gulls, mostly Ring-billed, on
Martin Lake. When it landed on the ice, I was able check out the legs which
were very small as expected. Instead of being black or even dark, however,
the leg color was light yellow. Is this a problem? All other features were
consistant with a juv. BLKI.
Other birds at Lathrop were:
Barrows Goldeneyes, 1 male, 1 female
Bald Eagle, 1 adult, 1 imm
Bonaparte Gull 1
Lake Martin and Horseshoe Lake are about 20 to 30% frozen.

Note: There was a Black-legged Kittiwake reported here on Nov. 28. by
Polly Wren Neldner. I've looked at her photos and I'm pretty sure that this
is not the same bird.
