I was about to start a new post regarding the dippers I saw today at
Chatfield, when I noticed this post. I put your coordinates into
google maps, and sure enough, that's just where I saw two Dippers
today around 11:30. A pair was flying fast and low upriver, almost
beak-to-tail, and landed on the shore at the bend in the river due
east of the banding station. They stayed there for just a few seconds
before taking off again upriver (south). I'd never seen Dippers on
the wing before-- nice treat on my lunch break, and an otherwise
fairly birdless half hour (1 kingfisher, 1 Spotted Towhee, some Juncos
and a Magpie were the only others).
