Stopped at Red Rocks this afternoon shortly after 1:00 p.m. and ran
into Forrest Luke from the Craig area. As some of us suspected, there
are two White-throated Sparrows. This is the first time (that I know
of) that the two have been seen at the same time at the feeders. In
addition Forrest and I saw the Golden-crowned and Harris's Sparrows.
The Curve-billed Thrasher failed to appear in the 15-20 minutes I
spent watching the feeders. Also had a Canyon Wren in the bushes next
to the steps when I arrived, but it soon took off. This is the first
time I have seen a Canyon Wren at the feeder area, although I have
seen and heard them on several occasions on the big rocks. One of the
Prairie Falcons was sitting on a ledge on the backside of Shiprock -
best seen from the Upper South Parking Lot. Have a terrific CBC
tomorrow!
