I led a group of 32 people on our second monthly "Birding The Big Thompson"
walk today. We upped our species count from 22 last month to 25 this month.
Temperature were a chilly 10 degrees, but we still had plenty of open water.

Species seen:

Ring-billed Gull
American Crow
Northern Flicker
Canada Goose
European Starling
Belted Kingfisher
House Finch & Sparrow
Blue Jay
American Robins - everywhere
Mallards
Bald Eagle - flushed hundreds of geese off the ponds across from the river.
American Goldfinch in their sneaky winter colors.
White-crowned Sparrow
Red-tail Hawk
Cackling Geese
American Coot
Northern Shoveler
Cedar Waxwing
BC Chickadee
Brown Creeper
White-breasted Nuthatch
Great Blue Heron
Downy Woodpecker
and

A very dull Myrtle Yellow-rumped Warbler.

About 10 of gathered at the local Starbucks to swap bird tales, thaw out and
dream of next month.
