Hi CoBird Enthusiasts,

I took a video of a Great Horned Owl from my backyard last Sunday
which is at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p6u9K3frkSY

My question is this: what is the rotational movement of the head in a
vertical plane called? I understand that owls can't move their
eyeballs, thus the tremendous horizontal angular movement as seen in
this video.

Incidentally, this owl flew to a roost in a blue spruce tree and
remained there all day. I was so excited to see it so close to my
house in suburban Parker, Colo.
