That's yet another location for Mandarin Duck in Boulder. And note that it's in the same general area of--I'm being very general here--"East Boulder." As Michael says, the bird is undoubtedly an escape. But Mandarin populations do have a way of becoming established. The species is native to northern and eastern Asia, but populations have become established in Britain, continental Europe, and even central California. Next up?--Boulder?? I mean, how many of us knew about Eurasian Collared-Doves, twenty years ago?... Let's keep an eye on these Mandarins. By all means, report them to COBirds and to eBird! ------------------------------- Ted Floyd
