Hello, Birders. Kei and Hannah and Andrew and I saw a Swamp Sparrow twice this afternoon, Sunday, January 9th, at Greenlee Preserve, Boulder County. The bird was in the little swale that runs south-to-north along the far west side of the preserve. It was coming to the mountain of birdseed that Hannah's put out for the birds at Greenlee...& that I've had to pay for... :-(
We had some nice raptors in the falling snow, including 2 Bald Eagles, 1 Sharp-shinned Hawk, and 1 Ferruginous Hawk. The Ferrooj was a Greenlee lifer for me, believe it or not. Also Red-tail and kestrel. And a Mourning Dove, uncommon in our neck of the woods in mid-winter. Earlier in the day, the four of us saw a Merlin near Baseline Reservoir, the third Merlin I've seen this year in Boulder County. ------------------------------- Ted Floyd Editor, Birding Blog: http://tinyurl.com/2g2staq Twitter: http://tinyurl.com/2ejzlzv Facebook: http://tinyurl.com/2wkvwxs ------------------------------- -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Colorado Birds" group.
