January 25: Bill Schmoker, "100 Years of Boulder Christmas Bird Counts" When Norman Betts sallied forth alone on Boulder's first Christmas bird count on a December morning in 1911, he saw only 25 species, including no ducks or geese. Now Boulder Christmas bird counts average more than 120 participants and more than 100 species.
