Hi all,
So much for field guides, at least North American-based ones. In none of the guides I looked at (Nat Geo, Sibley, Complete Guide Birds of NA, and some other more obscure ones) did the illustration or text indicate that immature males could be brown. However, after looking at several websites and seeing Pyle's response, I now understand my mistake - never trust a book. Or, it's better to learn by seeing than by reading. Thanks Larry and Steve for reporting the bird so promptly. I'll go back to living vicariously through other's birding. good birding, Doug Faulkner Arvada, CO -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Colorado Birds" group.
