Don called me and said that the gull was actively
flying near the marina off the fisherman's pier at the
Cherry Creek Marina yesterday. It was an adult gull,
about the size of a Ring-billed Gull, with a black tail
band, dark wing tips, yellow legs. The tip of the bill
was black and he could not see any red spot at the
very tip of the bill. Eye color not mentionned. He
saw it with binoculars and did not have a scope to
look through when it landed briefly on the ice. This
would be the first Colorado record of this rare gull,
which breeds in east Asia. I hope that it can be seen
and photographed today. I will post any additional information
I learn. Joe Roller, Denver
