Bonny birding was rewarding today with 35 species seen. Weather was 50's with a strong wind out of the north. Even with the heavy winds, the birds were pretty active.
The three best birds today: - Red Crossbill - single bird seen at Wagon Wheel Campground - Northern Cardinal - single Male east of Foster's Campground - Carolina Wren - single bird east of Foster's Campground Other notables for me today: - eastern bluebird - red breasted nuthatch - 7 bald eagles on the ice - brown creeper - eastern screech owl calling around 2pm - 7 snow geese So the question I have is how commen is Red Crossbill on the plains? With the heavy winds today...this could have been a crossbill blown in from Idaho. Any takers on that bet?
