Hi Cobirders. Day was too warm so birds were slow. Perhaps a hawk
was hanging around much of the time.
There was a 1st year male Sharp-shinned Hawk in the Chokecherry by
the kitchen window. Turning his head
often to see if sparrows or finches came to the feeders or nearby.
It stayed for half hour Thursday morning.
Today at 12:40PM Eurasian Collared Doves flew out of the tree in
front and quickly a Merlin male Richardsonii
flew low past window after one. He banked left and showed his right
wing well but disappeared. I do not think
he got one. About 20 minutes later a Rock Dove was feeding on the
ground and 7 Collared Doves on the
Drum feeder in the back yard . When the Merlin zoomed in and missed
one of them.
This may be the same one I saw late last year in the yard.
I got pictures of the Sharpy but the Merlin is way too speedy.
Maybe I will see more birds tomorrow or before Monday.
Bye
Bob Spencer N.E, of Golden
