Prairie playas provide critical habitat for migrating and breeding waterfowl
and shorebirds, but agricultural and land management practices make big
differences in the usefulness of playas for these birds. Rocky Mountain Bird
Observatory biologists have just published results of their research on land
management practices to sustain or improve the usefulness of playas as wetland
habitat. A summary of the findings can be found at www.rmbo.org.
