Greetings All,

Tony's detailed discussion is most excellent.

To me, there is some buff-orange (like an Am Wigeon) on the anterior sides,
mimicking nicely the pattern in some Eur x Am Wigeon hybrids and Mallard x Am
Wigeon hybrids. I think this should pretty much eliminate N Pintail as a
contender. Though hybrid ducks of many sorts can have a teal-like head pattern,
I am not sure they acquire this much buff, though some Gadwall hybrids might,
if memory serves. However, the bird's size would eliminate Am Wigeon x Gadwall.

Additionally, the bird's shape seems intermediate between GWTE and wigeon,
without any N Pintail like influence.

So, I feel pretty comfortable that this is a GWTE x Am Wigeon hybrid.

Best Wishes

Steve Mlodinow
