Cobirders,

Thanks for Ted's thorough info on Cranes in San Luis Valley. On March 31
and the morning April 1, Mary and I saw the "immense gathering" of SANDHILL
CRANES feeding at the Monte Vista National Wildlife Refuge. Drive south
on State Road 15 from town-center in Monte Vista about 6 miles to viewing
stations on the west/right side of the road and also enter from the
Headquarters on the east side for a drive through the main large Refuge area.
We
also saw a small flock of Cranes at the Russell Lakes Stare Wildlife area
north of Monte Vista on U.S. 285. We saw many water species and a few
raptures.

Peaceful birding,

Warren Finch
