One of my favorite local birding spots has to be Quail Creek Park behind the King Soopers at 136th & Zuni. While it is surrounded on three sides by Westminster, the park is in Broomfield. It's a great place for shorebirds. Last year, we had nesting Killdeer, American Avocet and Spotted Sandpiper in the small field on the south side of the pond. I found my one and only Brewer's Sparrow here last spring.
Tonight, I stopped by the park aound 7:30 on the way home from work and found: The usual Mallards 21 Killdeer 2 FOS American Avocet 4 A M/F pair of Ring-Necked Ducks A FOS American White Pelican And one M Greater Scaup In the past week, I have also seen Redhead, Canvasback, and a Say's Phoebe at this pond. If you're in the area, I encourage you to check it out. -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Colorado Birds" group.
