Hey all, Sorry to be a bit gruesome here, but... Yesterday while on a bicycle ride over Bingham Hill just outside of Bellvue, here in Larimer County, I came upon a freshly killed Chukar on the road right at the top of the hill. I have never seen one anywhere near Fort Collins, so I can only assume that it may have been an escapee? I know they have been reported out east in Weld County, but does anyone regularly (or for that matter, ever?) see them around here?
Also, I was woken up this morning by a juvenile White-crowned Sparrow trying to figure out his song right out of my window. He tried many times with only a few successes intermixed with slurred buzzes and missed notes. He was trying so hard until he was flushed away by a male House Sparrow who must have gotten sick of listening to him. Later this afternoon, I heard him along the side of the house trying again. He had no white on his crown, and looked very similar to a Chipping Sparrow. Cheers!
