I have been hearing the distinctive calls of Evening Grosbeak in my neighborhood for just over a week and occasionally saw them high up in tall trees in my neighbors' yards. Today I found two flocks in the nearby town of Florence, located in residential areas about a half mile apart where they were feasting on the tender shoots in groves of deciduous trees. I got a few photos of them chowing down on these apparent tasty tidbits that I have posted on my BirdsAndNature <http://BirdsAndNature.blogspot.com> blog. One of the flocks was near the Florence Middle School though they may find better eating somewhere else so the best way to find them is to listen for them while driving around where there are many trees.
