There has not been such a good stretch of birding as I've participated in as that of the Prairie Loop at Cherry Creek SP recently. I joined Don Beltz on the afternoon of May 3rd as he is a de facto ambassador in the area. Shore birds in their spectacular variety were well represented. Among them were 18 Wilson's Phalarope, 16 Willet, 17 American Avocet, 2 Solitary Sandpiper, 1 Killdeer, 2 Great Blue Heron, 6 Franklin's Gull, more than 50 Northern Shoveler, 4 Cinnamon Teal, 6 Blue-winged Teal, 4 American Coot, 1 American Wigeon and 1 Sora. This Sora inspired me to put together a video presentation that I'm sharing with those that may be interested. I've never gotten a better look at one! Video is just under 7 minutes long.
