As Hanging Lake was closed all last summer for trail rebuilding, etc, we finally headed that way again this past weekend so as to bag me a Black Swift or two. Despite the Eastbound paving, you can drive all the way to Glenwood and then back, and the Hanging Lake exit is open right as the Eastbound and Westbound lanes re-converge.
But the entire flock of swifts we saw from the lake were white- throated. Deb remembers having seen them about one week later than right now, a couple of years ago. So the question is, are they reliable to nest there every year? And if so, has anyone made note of arrival/departure dates?
