Delta County: --A GLOSSY IBIS was reported by Keaveney at Fruit Growers Reservoir on May 18.. El Paso County: --At Sonderman Park in Colorado Spring on May 17, Patrick reported 1 Indigo Bunting and 1-2 Northern Waterthrush. --Pals reported the following at a small pond at the south end of Fountain Creek Regional Park on May 17: Tennessee Warbler, Northern Parula, and Northern Waterthrush. --On May 17, Carragher reported 3 Northern Waterthrush and a Black-throated Blue Warbler at Fountain Creek RP. --On May 18 at Hansen Nature Park in Fountrain Creek Regional Park, Carragher reported a f Black-and-white Warbler, Northern Parula and 3 Northern Waterthrush. --On May 19 at Hansen Nature Park, Bill Maynard reported 6 Northern Waterthrush but no LOUISIANA WATERTHRUSH. --At Hansen Nature Area in Fountain Creek RP on May 20, Percival reported 1 f Black-and-white Warbler, 1 singing male Northern Parula, 3 Northern Waterthrush. --At Fountain Creek RP Percival reported on May 20: 1 singing Northern Waterthrush, 1 singing male Chestnut-sided Warbler, 1 molting male Summer Tanager. --A Chestnut-sided Warbler was reported by Pals in front of the Bear Creek Nature Center in Colorado Springs on May 20. El Paso/Pueblo Counties -- Chico Basin Ranch Chico Basin Ranch is a fee area ($15/day) --At the Holmes area/Banding Station (El Paso) on May 17 Drummond reported: Northern Parula, Chestnut-sided Warbler, Magnolia Warbler, Black-and-white Warbler, Ovenbird, Summer Tanager, and Indigo Bunting. --At the Banding Station on May 18, Bill Maynard reported a m Prothonotary Warbler, 1m Blackpoll Warbler, Nashville Warbler, Magnolia Warbler, and Northern Waterthrush and Drummond reported Chestnut-sided Warbler and Palm Warbler. --On the El Paso side on May 19, Bill Maynard reported a singing Tennessee Warbler by the banding station and a male Chestnut-sided Warbler by the Casita. --At ranch HQ (Pueblo) Drummond reported on May 17 Green Heron and f Black-and-white Warbler. At ranch HQ Maynard reported a Green Heron and 1 Northern Waterthrush on May 18. --At Rose Pond (Pueblo) on May 17, Drummond reported a f-type Summer Tanager and Northern Waterthrush. At Rose Pond on May 18, Maynard reported an Ovenbird and 1 Black-and-white Warbler. --Gobris reported the following birds banded at Chico Basin: May 16: Black-and-white Warbler, Ovenbird, Northern Waterthrush May 17: Chestnut-sided Warbler, Magnolia Warbler May 18: Nashville Warbler, Blackpoll Warbler and Prothonotory Warbler May 19: The PHILADELPIA VIREO that was banded on 5/12 was recaptured Huerfano County: --A Greater Roadrunner was reported by Nelder at Lathrop SP on May 17. It was at the north end of Martin Lake. Jefferson County: --A Blackpoll Warbler and 2 Northern Waterthrush were banded by McBurney at the RMBO Chatfield Banding Station on May 16. A m Chestnut-sided Warbler was banded by McBurney at the RMBO Chatfield Banding Station on May 17. --An Eastern Phoebe and Northern Waterthrush were reported by Henwood at Bear Creek Lake Park on May 16. The Eastern Phoebe was seen again by Henwood on May 17. --An imm Broad-winged Hawk was reported by Shade at Welchester Tree Grant Park on May 17. --A Blue-winged Warbler was reported by Plage at Welchester Tree Park in Lakewood on May 20. Kit Carson County: --At Flagler SWA on May 19, Dan Maynard reported 1st year f Hooded Warbler, Northern Waterthrush, and ALDER FLYCATCHER. Larimer County: --A Blackpoll Warbler was reported by Dee at the end of Sharp Point Drive in Fort Collins on May 18. --A singing Tennessee Warbler was reported by Dee on May 19 at Prospect Pond Natural area at the end of Sharp Point Drive. --2 Blackpoll Warblers were reported by Reid at the entrance to the Environmental Learning Center in Fort Collins on May 20. Mesa County: --Filby reported that the BLACK-CHINNED SPARROW continues on the Devil's Kitchen Trail in Colorado National Monument on May 13. Walker reported the BLACK-CHINNED SPARROW on May 14 along with a Broad-winged Hawk. BLACK-CHINNED SPARROWS were reported by Schmoker as being seen on No Thoroughfare Trail from Devil's Kitchen Trail by the CFO convention on May 20. --A White-winged Dove was reported by Korte on Redlands in Grand Junction on May 18. --A Green Heron was reported by Wilson at the Audubon Nature Center at 610 Dike Road in Grand Junction on May 18. Moffat County: --A Chestnut-sided Warbler was reported by Luke at Loudy-Simpson Park in Craig on May 18. On May 19 Luke reported that Dodson refound the Chestnut-sided Warbler and Luke found a Northern Waterthrush in same area. On May 20, Luke reported Chestnut-sided Warbler, Blackpoll Warbler and 1 GLOSSY IBIS at Loudy-Simpson Park in Craig. Morgan County: --A Blackpoll Warbler was reported by Such at Jackson Lake SP on May 18. Pueblo County: --A white morph REDDISH EGRET was found by Silverman at Huerfano Lake (private) on May 14 and was seen again by Percival on May 20. Viewing is possible from Bush Rd on the south side and Fields Rd on the north. The lake is south of Vineland taking 40th Lane to Bush or Fields Rds. --At Valco Ponds in Pueblo on May 18, Percival reported Northern Waterthrush. --At Pueblo City Park Percival reported on May 18 a singing m Northern Parula and a Summer Tanager. --A "white" Little Blue Heron was reported by Silverman on an island in the NW corner of Lake Beckwith in Colorado City on May 18. --A singing male Northern Parula was reported by Percival at Rock Canyon in the eastern part of the Osprey Picnic area. --A singing male Northern Parula was reported by Percival at Roselawn Cemetery in Blende on May 20. Yuma County: --A Black-throated Blue and Northern Waterthrushr were reported by Dan Maynard east of Wray in a thick riparian area along the N Republican River on May 19,. --At Stalker Lake in Wray, Dan Maynard reported Northern Waterthrush and Northern Cardinal on May 19. --At Wray City Park on May 19, Dan Maynard reported an ad m MOURNING WARBLER in underbrush alog the river and a Black-throated Blue Warbler. The DFO field trip for Saturday, May 21 will be to RIgli Ranch led by Joe Rigli (970-768-7121). Meet the leader at the ranch by 0830. From Hudson, go east on Co 52 until it turns north. Don't turn north, but continue east on Morgan County road F to CR 14, then turn north for aproximately one mile to first house on left by boxcars. Bring lunch and extra water. The DFO field trip for the Memorial Day Weekend, Saturday, May 28 to May 30 will be to Nebraska's Crescent Lake NWR led by Mary Cay Burger (303-771-3431) or [email protected]. Meet leader at Hudson on I-76 at 8:30 am Saturday, May 28. Will drive to Nebraska for lots of great birding. Possible other stops: Ash Hollow State Park, Wildcat Hills Rec Area, and Tamarack Ranch SWA. You will need to bring 3 lunches and 2 breakfasts and plan to eat 2 dinners in restaurants. Call or email leader for motel suggestions and carpolling information. Trip will return to Denver area by 6 pm on Monday, May 30. The DFO field trip for Monday, May 30 will by to 88th and South Platte Trail led by Jackie King (303-287-1644). Meet the leader at 0800 at the parking area at E. 88th and the South Platte River. From I-76 take E 88th Ave exit, go west on 88th for 1.6 miles, then turn south at Colorado Blvd. Turn left into parking lot for South Platte River Greenway Trailhead. Trip will be handicapped accessible. Bring lunch and drinking water.
