Hi COBirders, To follow-up on Arvind's post - we, too, have Evening Grosbeaks in pairs, hanging around for over a week. I have only recorded them in my yard here, N of Garden of the Gods park, three times in 20 years - all winter - so this is new. There are at least 4 birds, 2M, 2F that visit the feeders about 10 times/day.
Also - had my first Yard Virginia's Warbler Tuesday - a female right outside the window. This was followed Wednesday, by a male as well. There have been 4 Black-headed Grosbeaks hanging around as well, competing with the Evenings, but not bothering each other - 3 males and one female. Wonder if they are part of last-years' family that nested here.
