I found the first singing male Bobolink in the Canon City area yesterday. Also the first Sora Rail of the season. Today when I got to the Sell's Lake parking lot for the Canon City Riverwalk I heard a Red-eyed Vireo singing. The rest of the Riverwalk was disappointing, a sentiment shared by Rich Miller who I ran into there. Other than the Red-eyed Vireo and a few common species singing, it was quite quiet. Even the Gray Catbirds, and Yellow-breasted Chats (whatever family of bird they are) were subdued (I think the catbirds are on nests).
I only saw one Swainson's Thrush in the mile of trail I walked. I did get photos of the Bobolink and even the Red-eyed Vireo--they are posted on my BirdsAndNature <http://BirdsAndNature.blogspot.com> SeEtta Moss Canon City http://BirdsAndNature.blogspot.com -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Colorado Birds" group.
