Hello to all,

Crow Valley Campground proved to be some of the best birding for one
spot that I've had in a long long while on Saturday through to Sunday
morning. I had 80 species of birds which I thought was spectacular
for such a little oasis on the plains... After reading the posts I
see that there were quite a few people that posted on their sightings
at Crow Valley. I missed the Tennessee Warbler posted by Norm Lewis
but got 11 warbler species of my own while there. The list of good
birds are as follows:

-Virginia's Warbler-1
-Yellow Warbler-many
-Common Yellowthroat-many including the most females I've ever seen
-Yellow-breasted Chat-12- the most I've ever seen here
-MacGillivray's Warbler- several. I tried so hard to make one of
them Mourning Warbler but failed miserably.
-American Redstart-at least 2 males and 2 females
-Northern Parula-1 singing male
-Ovenbirds-at least 3- 1 singing male and 2 silent ones in opposite
ends of the campground.
-Yellow-rumped warbler-many
-Orange crowned Warbler- 2
-Wilson's Warbler- at least 4

Other birds of note:

Orchard Oriole-1 male
Least Flycatcher-at least 3
Willow Flycatcher-at least 2
Gray Flycatcher-1 for sure
Dusky Flycatcher-2 for sure
Olive-sided Flycatcher-1
Red-headed Woodpecker-1
Grasshopper Sparrow-1
Pine Siskin-1
-2 Upland Sandpipers when I showed up at 5am on Saturday morning
engaging in flight calls
-1-Wild Turkey when I got there calling
-1-Western Bluebird
-3 -Veery all calling
-4-Northern Mockingbirds
-Swainson's Thrushes-alot
-Gray Catbirds-more than I've ever seen here
-American Goldfinches-gabillions...I've never seen so many all over
Northern Colorado

All else the usual suspects. Notable misses---Downy Woodpecker, Black-
capped Chickadee, White-breasted Nuthatch, Broad-tailed Hummingbird.

Birds I saw on my way back to Ft. Collins...

-2 - Red-headed Woodpecker between Weld CR 47 and 49 off of 102
-2 Canvasbacks and 4 Redheads still around.
- 1 - Bobolink on CR 7 (i think) right between Smith Lake and Poudre
No. 3 in Wellingtonj
-5 Hooded Mergansers still hanging on that little inlet on the NE side
toward the road.
2-Long-billed Dowitchers-CR 3 just north of CR64-LATE
-1-Lesser Yellowlegs-CR3 just north of CR64-LATE
-4-Golden Eagle-at least 2 hatchlings on nest
-1-Blue Grosbeak female and male
-Giant flock of Savannah Sparrows around Poudre #3
-1-Mountain Plover in the burn area off of 96
-Several McCown's Longspurs off of 96
-Several Burrowing Owls off of 96
-Great numbers of Lark Buntings and Brewer's Sparrows

I ended up with 132 species including all the ducks and other usual
suspects and I didn't even try! Maybe I should have considering I
birded 21 hours total. Finally, migrations may have reached Northern
Colorado.

Good Birding y'all
