Possible Common Black Hawk near the Gunnison Sage Grouse Lek today.

I was passing County Road 887 and Hyw 50 (19miles east of Gunnison) when I
spotted a very dark raptor sitting on a fence post just off the highway. As
I turned around and pulled onto the dirt road, the bird took off. It was an
all black hawk with what appeared to be a single white stripe across the
tail. I only got a brief glimpse with the binoculars before it flew south
over the flooded fields. I scoped for an additional 30 mins looking for it,
but with no luck in relocating the bird. I'll field a site record form, but
without a photo to back it up....possibly a very good bird for the end of 5
days birding the CO/UT state line.

Second best bird, Lucy's Warbler in Yellow Jacket Canyon, Montezuma County.
