Baca County: --An Eastern Phoebe was reported by Mark Miller at Two Buttes On June 12. Bent County: --At Bent's Old Fort Inn in Las Animas on June 12,, Mark Miller reported a singing Carolina Wren. --A LEAST BITTERN was reported by Leukering at Fort Lyon SSWA on June 15. Boulder County: --A Caspian Tern was reported by Mlodinow at Cottonwood March on June 12. --A Hooded Warbler was reported by Andrews in Long Canyon on Flagstaff on April 16. Custer County: --A Northern Parula was reported by Truan at Lake Isabel near the big fishing parking lot on June 16 Douglas/Jefferson Counties: --An ad WESTERN GULL was found by Walbek on the Marina Sandspit at Chatfield SP on June 1. The WESTERN GULL was reported by Kellner at the tires at the Marina on June 18. This is a first state record (if accepted by the Records Committee). --A singing White-eyed Vireo was reported by Keller at the south Marina Sand spit in trees at the base of the spit. --A pair of Eastern Phoebes was reported by Burt on June 14. They were seen from the pedestrian bridge across Plum Creek Walbek reported juvie Eastern Phoebes at Chatfield on June 17. Fremont County: --2 Black-throated Sparrows were reported by Moss south of Canon City on June 18, Huerfano County: --Nelder reported on June 12 HEPATIC TANAGER and Indigo Bunting on Rouse Road. Jefferson County: --A Broad-winged Hawk was reported by Lewis at Welchester Tree Park working the west end of the park on June 5. Sanders reported that the Broad-winged Hawk was in the same area on June 6 and calling a lot. On June 8, Sanders reported that the Broad-winged Hawk was still in the same area. On June 9, Schottler reported 2 Broad-winged Hawks at Welchester Tree Park. One was juv but he did not get a good look at the second to judge age. On June 10, Sanders again saw the light morph hawk at Welchester Tree Park in the west end of the park. Mark Chavez reported the juv Broad-winged Hawk in Welchester Tree Park on June 12. On June 13 Sanders reported that the Broad-winged Hawk continues at Welchester Tree Park. Larimer County: --At Rist Canyon 6 miles west of 27E on 52E on the south side of the road Leatherman reported a nesting pair of American-Three-toed woodpeckers and heard an Ovenbird on June 17. Mesa County: --2 BLACK-CHINNED SPARROWS were reported by Teuton in Colorado National Monument on June 16. Otero County: --2 Great Crested Flycatchers were reported by Chartier at Oxbow SWA on June 18. Pueblo County: --A singing Northern Parula was reported by Percival at the Pueblo Zoo on 6/12 and 6/13. Chartier reported that the parula continues at least through June 14. Weld County: --A YELLOW-CROWNED NIGHT-HERON was reported by Elens at Glenmere Park in Greeley on June 5 and was seen again by Lefko on June 7. On June 7, Komar reported that the YELLOW-CROWNED NIGHT-HERON appears to be attempting to nest with a Black-crowned Night-Heron. On June 8, Core reported seeing the night-heron again on nest. On June 10, the YELLOW-CROWNED NIGHT-HERON was reported by Amper as posing on a log. On June 10 Mark Miller reported the YELLOW- CROWNED_NIGHT-HERON was stalking fish at the west end of the island. On June 11, Mlodinow relocated the YELLOW-CROWNED NIGHT-HERON. He reports that when it is on nest that it is difficult to see. On June 18 Dunning reported that the YELLOW-CROWNED NIGHT-HERONS continues on nest. When searching for the YELLOW-CROWNED NIGHT-HERON Faulker discovered an ad Little Blue Heron on June 12. --A GLOSSY IBIS was reported by Adame near HWY 34 and CR 55 on June 17. The DFO Field Trip for Sunday, June 19 will be to Golden Gate Canyon State Park led by Ira and Tammy Sanders. Meet leaders a 0700 at the Subway on the north side of Golden, 106 Rubey Dr #A. From intersection of US 6 asnd Hwy 93, go north approx 6/10 mile to first light at Iowa St. Turn east (rt) on Iowa. Go 1 block E and turn north (left) on Rubey Drive. Subway is just north of the Loaf-N-Jug. We will be carpolling from Subway. Plan on birding into the afternoon. Bring lunch. State Parks pass if you have one.
