Co-birders,

I thought I would share the newest information on the Louviers Cuckoos since I
have had many requests from so many of you.

On Memorial Day, I hosted a group where we first found the Fall Cankerworm
starting to infest the Box Elder trees in the closed section of the Dupont Open
Space.

On June 5th, I was able to locate for the second year in a row a pair of the
cuckoos in the trees.

On June 11th, I hosted another group of about ten birders, where we were able
to locate a pair and witness copulation. the trees were starting to be
defoliated, many worms.

On June 15th, Harriet Stratton, Marilyn Rhodes and I were able to find the nest
and observe female on nest for over an hour.

On June 16th, Harriet Stratton witnessed again on the nest.

On June 18th, I checked nest at 7:30-10:30am from safe distance and no cuckoo
on nest and no calls. Most of the worms are gone, maybe knocked off by heavy
rain on Friday, but some trees as tall as 50feet, totally defoliated.

Today, Checked night nest site from 6:30-7:30am and again at 5:00-6:00pm, no
cuckoo.
Will keep checking all week and will inform group if they are located again.
