Thank you, Tom for answering. Andrews and And Righters' Colorado Birds shows they are pretty uncommon in western Colorado, including Northwestern Colo. Question: Last year I had reported a colony of Great Blue Herons on this ranch property - on the Elk River. A birder from that area was doing a study on Heron colonies. This year that group of trees is empty of those nests. Why, I don't know. But, unfortunately, I cannot seem to bring up his name - on my computer. . . .
