Greetings All,

Actually, I tell a small lie. The Hooded Warbler was across the river (north of
Poudre River), near the Poudre River Trail parking lot.
The bird flew from one tree to another, immediately towards the river from the
parking area. I then watched it hop about a cottonwood for a few moments and
proceeded to pish. The bird exited (as I later heard) stage right (towards
highway) whilst a swarm of grackles and starlings descended. The Hooded then
sang once or twice, and disappeared, perhaps across the highway, where there is
fair and inaccessible habitat. But I suspect it will remain in the area for at
least a wee while.

Brown Thrasher, N Mockingbird, and Orchard Oriole were other birds of low-level
interest in the area. There are massive densities of mosquitos, so be ready to
be eaten alive or wear DEET.

The other highlight of the day were 3 singing Cassin's Sparrows in Beebe's Draw
at the corner of Rd 50 and 57. One sang from a wire on the south side of 50,
allowing for nice photography.

There was work being done near the pond at Lower Latham, so except the BN
Stilts and Am Avocets, there was not much action. Not a duck in site.

Best Wishes and Good Cheer
