I continue to see both the apparent female Eastern Phoebe and male Black
Phoebe across from the Canon City Riverwalk . The fledgling(s) are still
not far from the nest site (under rectangular culvert easily seen from vault
toilet by Sell's Lake parking lot). Although I have seen a fledgling 4 or 5
times, it has been about a hundred feet away across the Arkansas River and
only brief views. Each parent bird continues to come across the river to
the Riverwalk side to forage providing excellent views. I took advantage of
the view of the Black Phoebe this week to get some very nice video of it in
the sun (these black plumaged birds have an understandable preference for
shading locations which do not produce as good of video or photos as in
sun). The video clip is on my
BirdsAndNature<http://BirdsAndNature.blogspot.com>blog but you will
have to scroll down past one of the bear video clips. I
also got some very good video of a large black bear mom and her triplet cubs
on the Riverwalk this week when I was there watching the phoebes. I have
also posted 3 of the bear family video clips onto my BirdsAndNature
<http://BirdsAndNature.blogspot.com>blog (1 before and 2 after the phoebe
video). It was most interesting that the birds were really calling and
singing in the section of the trail that the bears had walked down which is
unusual since this was mid-day and on a very hot day (mid 90's at that time)
