The male Black Phoebe and apparent female Eastern Phoebe continue along with
at least one offspring across from the Canon City Riverwalk (across the
river from vault toilet by Sell's Lake parking lot). Yesterday both the
Black and Eastern Phoebes came to the Riverwalk side of the Arkansas River
for good views while I have still only seen the offspring from across the
river. There have been 2-3 Cedar Waxwing in the same area several times in
the past week.

I have uploaded the video clip showing the juvenile Western Screech Owl that
hunted in front of my camcorder this week with it's catch that it dispatches
like a vacuum cleaner. The catch is definitely a beak-ful for this young
owl and it may be a baby mouse or possibly a large moth. I uploaded it to
my BirdsAndNature <http://BirdsAndNature.blogspot.com>blog. The mosquitos
are awful where this owl family is since there is a lot of water nearby and
sometimes the mosquitoes can be even be heard on the videotapes.

I also found a family of Burrowing Owls in Fremont County and have uploaded
a video clip of 2 young owls with a parent owl at their burrow also onto my
blog. All these small owls are just so appealing.

I found a cavity nest of Lewis's Woodpeckers on my friend's property near
Canon City and in the same cottonwood in which this species has nested the
past several years.
