Near the top of Boreas Mountain today, above Boreas Pass near the
Summit County line. Also near the top were American Pipits pecking
frozen bugs on a snowfield. Back near the trailhead were Mountain
Bluebirds, a Cassin’s Finch, and White-crowned Sparrows. Boreas
Mountain, 13,082 feet, is between Breckenridge and Como. There is no
trail to the summit of Boreas Mountain, so Barb and I followed
internet advice and just hiked straight up, much of it talus field,
which at times was like going up a down escalator. But the views were
great and wildflowers seem to be at their peak.

Good birding!
