Thanks to all our respected Colorado birding members for feedback and input on my supposed SPPI sighting over the weekend.
I think after much discussions and research now, that the far, far more likely expected bird would be the HOLA. The problem is that I did not note the field marks that would separate the two; nor was I really aware of this particular conundrum. So without that bit of info, one must go with HOLA. The field marks in particular being primary extension (would have separated these two on this alone), leg color, bill shape, flight behavior. I was going solely on the white wing bars on this individual, but the web has more than a few examples of juv HOLAs with buffy as well as white wing bars held briefly in juv plumage. So - not a diagnostic field mark for separation in this case. Thanks again all.
